2. What have some of the advantages of having a
hearing dog been for James? Use the
phrases in the box to help you to answer the question.
Answer: [PEE]
The hearing
dog helped James overcome sleep anxieties.
We know this because the text tells us "...but now that Kurt sleeps
with him in his bedroom he feels much less isolated when he takes out his
hearing aid at night." This reveals
that James could overcome and cope with his fear of isolation only because Kurt
sleeps with him.
The hearing
dog helped James to be better at social interaction. The line "Kurt has also helped James'
social interaction" shows us this.
This tells us that James imporved his social interaction skills and is
capable of leading a normal social life, which wouldn't be possible without the
help of a hearing dog.
The hearing
dog gave James company and an undivided attention. The line "He is a wonderful
accompaniment to our household." shows us this.
This quote is evidence that a hearing dog is a true companion to James.
