Apocalyptic means revealing the secrets of the future through prophecy; or having the character
of an apocalypse or world-consuming holocaust.
Apocalyptic writing is usually
concerned with the coming end of the world, seen in terms of a visionary scheme
of history, as in Yeats's poem 'The Second Coming'.
