Anachrony
is a term used in modern narratology to denote a discrepancy
between the order in which events of the story occur and the order in which
they are presented to us in the plot. Anachronies take two basic forms:
'flashback' or analepsis, and 'fiashforward' or prolepsis. Adjective:
anachronic.
