01376--How to write personal aims in Cambridge CELTA lesson plan?


Each CELTA lesson plan has a column where the trainee should write her personal aims.  These are the aims that relate to the trainee as a teacher, rather than the lesson itself, will help the trainee focus on her own personal development.  

Personal aims could include such things as:

Ø  To sit down more
Ø  To clarify meaning, form and pronunciation without long explanations
Ø  To make sure I include all the students (not just the stronger ones)
Ø  To make sure I project my voice and that I am audible
Ø  To make sure I vary the pace of the lesson
Ø  To reduce unnecessary teacher talk
Ø  To listen to the students carefully
Ø  To step back and observe what is going on
Ø  To check instructions after I've given them
Ø  To monitor more effectively (so that I know what students struggled with)
Ø  To correct more (especially the serious mistakes)
Ø  To try drilling with more energy

Ø  To focus only on the difficult items during feedback (I tend to go over the each item in an exercise systematically)
